The Cash App Card is a Visa debit card linked to your Cash App balance, allowing spending online and in stores. It can be funded by depositing cash at participating retail locations.
Several major retail chains across the United States commonly offer services to load cash onto a Cash App balance. These include widely recognized stores such as Walmart, Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy, 7-Eleven, Dollar General, Family Dollar, and Rite Aid. Other participating locations can also include Circle K, H-E-B, Sheetz, and KwikTrip.
While many locations support these cash deposits, individual store participation can vary. For this reason, it is advisable to utilize the Cash App’s in-app map feature, found under the “Paper Money” option in the Banking tab, to locate the nearest participating store. This in-app tool provides current information on locations that accept cash loads, helping users confirm availability before a visit.
Begin by opening the Cash App on your mobile device and navigating to the Banking tab, then selecting the “Paper Money” option. From there, you will typically generate a unique barcode within the app that the cashier will need to scan. When at the store, inform the cashier that you wish to add funds to your Cash App.
Present the generated barcode on your phone to the cashier and hand over the cash. The cashier will then scan the barcode, accept the cash, and process the transaction. Funds are generally available immediately. Always obtain a receipt for your records.
Depositing cash to your Cash App balance at retail locations incurs a $1 fee per transaction. This fee is automatically deducted from the amount you are depositing. However, this $1 fee is waived if you receive $300 or more in paychecks via direct deposit into your Cash App account each month.
There are specific limits governing cash deposits, which include a maximum of $5,000 per rolling 7 days and $10,000 per rolling 30 days. Individual transactions must be a minimum of $5 and cannot exceed $500 per single deposit. Some retailers may also impose their own minimum deposit amounts, such as $20 for card-swiped deposits, and may sometimes request identification for verification purposes.
