Rejection Factors

After a mobile check deposit is completed, users should retain the paper check for 14 to 30 days, as specified by their bank, in case the deposit is flagged for review or rejected later. During this period, checks should be securely stored in a locked drawer or safe to prevent unauthorized access. Writing “Deposited” or “Void” across the front of the check after confirmation helps mitigate potential misuse.

Once the retention period ends, the check should be securely destroyed by shredding to prevent sensitive information from being reconstructed. Simply discarding the check poses a security risk, as it could be retrieved and used fraudulently.
