How to Transfer Money From Cash App to Chime

Unlock the methods for transferring money between Cash App and Chime, even without direct integration.

Cash App and Chime are widely used digital platforms for managing finances, with Cash App focusing on mobile payments and Chime providing online banking services. Users often seek to transfer funds between these two distinct platforms to consolidate money or manage various transactions. While both offer convenient ways to handle money, the process of moving funds between them requires specific steps due to their independent operational structures.

Understanding Direct Transfers

Direct transfers between Cash App and Chime are not supported as a built-in feature. These platforms operate as separate financial technology entities, lacking direct integration for immediate, peer-to-peer transfers. Instead, moving money between them requires an indirect approach, leveraging standard banking system functionalities that both services can access. This involves linking accounts or cards as intermediaries to facilitate fund movement.

Transferring Funds Using a Linked Bank Account

Transferring funds from Cash App to Chime can be managed by linking your Chime bank account to your Cash App. This method uses the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network, a common system for electronic funds transfers between banks. Locate your Chime account and routing numbers within the Chime mobile application. These details are necessary to establish the connection in Cash App.

Within Cash App, navigate to the “Linked Banks” or “Linked Accounts” section, typically found under your profile icon or banking tab. Select the option to link a bank account and input your Chime routing and account numbers when prompted. Some users can also link their Chime account by logging in directly through a secure third-party service, such as Plaid, which automates verification. After successfully linking, your Chime bank account will appear as an available option for transfers.

Once the Chime bank account is linked, you can initiate a transfer from your Cash App balance. From the Cash App home screen, tap on your balance or the “Money” tab and select “Cash Out.” Choose the amount you wish to transfer to your linked Chime account. Cash App offers two transfer speeds: a standard deposit, which is typically free and takes one to three business days for funds to arrive, and an instant deposit.

Transferring Funds Using a Linked Debit Card

An alternative method for transferring funds from Cash App to Chime involves linking your Chime debit card. This approach often facilitates faster transfers than the standard bank account method. To link your Chime debit card, open Cash App and access the “Banking” or “Linked Banks” section.

From there, select “Add Debit Card” and enter your Chime debit card details, including the card number, expiration date, CVV, and billing zip code. This process establishes a secure connection between your Cash App and your Chime debit card. If you already have a debit card linked, you may need to replace it with your Chime card information to enable transfers.

After the Chime debit card is successfully linked, you can transfer funds from your Cash App balance. On the Cash App home screen, tap on your balance and select “Cash Out.” Choose your linked Chime debit card as the destination for the transfer. Transfers to a linked debit card are typically instant, providing quick access to your funds.

Instant Transfer Fees and Limits

Instant transfers, whether to a linked bank account or debit card, incur a fee ranging from 0.5% to 1.75% of the transfer amount, with a minimum fee of $0.25. For example, a $100 instant transfer could cost between $0.50 and $1.75. Transfer limits vary based on the method and account verification status.

For transfers to a linked bank account, unverified accounts may have a weekly sending limit of $250, while verified accounts can send up to $7,500 per week. These limits are subject to change based on account activity and verification status.

For transfers to a linked debit card, Cash App Card transaction limits are generally $7,000 per transaction, $7,000 per day, $10,000 per week, and $15,000 per month for spending and withdrawals.
