After Sending Your ACH Payment

After you have successfully initiated an ACH payment, your bank will provide a confirmation number or send an email confirming the transfer. This confirmation serves as proof of submission; keep it for your records.

ACH payments are processed in batches. It takes one to three business days for an ACH payment to fully process and for the funds to appear in the recipient’s account. Weekends and federal holidays can extend this timeframe, as the ACH network only operates on business days.

You can track the status of your sent payment through your online banking portal, which may show whether the payment is pending, processed, or completed. Once the expected processing time has passed, it is a good practice to confirm with the recipient that they have received the funds. If a payment seems delayed beyond the timeframe or if there’s an issue, contacting your bank’s customer service with your confirmation number is the appropriate next step.
