Regularly checking policy status helps ensure benefits remain intact and provides clarity on premium payment schedules and policy terms. Before checking your LIC policy status, gather specific details for a smooth inquiry. The primary identifier is your unique Policy Number, found on your policy bond or premium receipts.
Your Date of Birth, as registered with LIC, is used for verification. Your Registered Mobile Number and Registered Email ID are also used for sending verification codes or policy updates. For certain online services, your Permanent Account Number (PAN) may be required.
Checking your LIC policy status online offers a convenient method. The official LIC India website provides a customer portal where both new and registered users can access policy details. New users must first register, providing their policy number, date of birth, and instalment premium amount, along with creating login credentials. A verification link is sent to the registered email to activate the account.
Registered users can log in to the customer portal using their username, password, and date of birth. After login, policyholders can navigate to the “View Enrolled Policies” section to see their policies. Upon checking a policy’s status, policyholders will encounter terms describing the current state of their coverage. An “In-force” status indicates the policy is active, and all premiums have been paid up to date, ensuring all policy benefits are available. This status also applies during a grace period, which allows 15 to 30 days after the premium due date for payment without policy lapse.
Conversely, a “Lapsed” status signifies the policy has become inactive due to non-payment of premiums beyond the grace period. A lapsed policy no longer provides coverage, and its benefits are suspended.
A “Paid-up” policy refers to one where all required premiums have been paid for a certain period, and no further premiums are due, though the policy may continue with reduced benefits. If a policy is “Matured,” the policy term has ended, and the maturity benefits, such as the sum assured and any accumulated bonuses, are due to the policyholder. Finally, a “Claim Registered” status indicates a claim, such as a death claim or maturity claim, has been formally submitted against the policy.
