This means the employee initially received their old rate for a period when the new, higher rate should have applied.

Overtime pay can also be part of retro pay calculations, especially if the base hourly rate used to calculate overtime was retroactively increased. When the regular rate of pay changes, the overtime rate, typically 1.5 times the regular rate, must also be adjusted for past hours worked.
