The filing deadline for most individual income tax returns typically aligns with the federal deadline, usually April 15th.

Taxable income can be reduced by certain deductions and exemptions, similar to federal tax provisions. Oklahoma offers a standard deduction, which can be claimed instead of itemizing deductions. Personal exemptions are also available, reducing the amount of income subject to tax based on the number of qualifying individuals in a household. Property tax amounts are calculated by applying millage rates to the assessed value. A mill represents one-tenth of a cent, or $1.00 per $1,000 of assessed value. Various local entities, including school districts, counties, and cities, each determine their own millage rates, which are then combined to form the total millage rate for a specific property.

Homeowners may qualify for certain exemptions that reduce their taxable property value. The homestead exemption is a common provision, allowing a reduction from the assessed valuation of a primary residence. To qualify, the property must be owned and occupied, and an application must be filed with the county tax assessor.
