How Long Do Fandango Refunds Take?

Navigating a Fandango refund? Learn the full process, from eligibility to receiving your money, and understand typical timelines.

Fandango offers a convenient way to purchase movie tickets, and its refund process can vary. This article outlines Fandango’s refund eligibility, explains the steps for requesting a refund, and details typical processing times.

Understanding Fandango’s Refund Policy

Fandango allows for refunds or exchanges of movie tickets under specific conditions. Most standard movie tickets are eligible for a refund or exchange up until the posted showtime. Some theater chains, however, have earlier deadlines, such as one hour before showtime for Galaxy Theatres or 30 minutes prior for Marcus and MJR Digital Cinemas. It is important to confirm your specific theater’s policy.

Refunds return ticket costs to the original payment method. Convenience fees are generally non-refundable for cash refunds. For exchanges, the convenience fee can be recouped as Fandango credit. Partial refunds are not available; the entire purchase must be refunded or exchanged.

Certain purchases are non-refundable. Fandango Gift Cards are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash, subject to state laws. If a promotional code was used, its value will not be refunded or exchanged. Concessions are only refundable if the theater’s policies permit it.

The Refund Process and Timeline

Initiating a Fandango refund typically begins online via their website or mobile application. Users can access the refund option through a link in their confirmation email, or by visiting fandango.com/returns. Alternatively, log into your Fandango account and navigate to “My Tickets” or “Purchase History” to select the order.

Once the eligible order is selected, follow prompts to complete the refund request. Fandango processes the request internally. The time for funds to appear in your account involves multiple stages.

After Fandango processes and initiates the refund, the financial institution involved (such as a bank or credit card company) must also process the transaction. This typically takes three to ten business days for the credit to post to the account. Factors influencing this timeline include the original payment method, such as a credit card, PayPal, or other digital wallet, as well as bank holidays or weekend requests, as most financial transactions are not processed on weekends.

Checking Refund Status and Troubleshooting

After initiating a refund, users should receive an email confirmation once Fandango processes the request. Regularly check your original payment method’s statement (credit card or bank account) for the refund to appear.

If the refund has not appeared within the expected timeframe (typically ten business days), take further action. First, contact Fandango’s customer support to inquire about the refund status. Have your order number, purchase date, and refund request date ready to assist the support team.

If Fandango confirms processing but the refund hasn’t appeared, contact your financial institution. Inquire about pending transactions or the refund credit status. If significant delays persist for credit or debit card refunds, consider initiating a chargeback through your financial institution, generally within 120 days.
